Bryant sworn in as Albemarle County Sheriff
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Albemarle County Sheriff's Office swore in newly-elected Sheriff Chan Bryant at the Albemarle County Circuit Court on Monday.
Bryant is the first female to be elected as the sheriff in Albemarle County and looks forward to starting new programs for the community.
"Projects I'm excited about most is a program I want to start called Building the Community's Trust where the deputies go out in the community and we bring our command trailer and we play games and do bouncy houses and do food and we eat with the people of the community," said Bryant.
Bryant said it felt good to be elected sheriff and has worked hard toward this goal.
The Albemarle County Sheriff's Office was established in 1745. Bryant is the first female to take over its leadership.
