CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Cape Ivy donated ponchos to children to provide warmth in hospital beds, wheelchairs, and when traveling between home and hospital.

Smiling While Sending Hope donated care packages and mask to provide hope and happiness for people with chronic illnesses. 

Since June of 2019, Cape Ivy has donated almost 800 ponchos to children and Smiling While Sending Hope has donated over 800 care packages over the last seven years. 

"I hope to give back more than I receive and making an impact on people's lives," said Katie Haynes, the founder of Smiling While Sending Hope. "It's what I've always wanted to do."

The two organizations visited the University of Virginia Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House on Friday with their donations.
