CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The college lacrosse season barely lasted a month before coming to an abrupt end amid concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.

Because of that cancellation, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced on Tuesday that it would not present the Tewaaraton Award to the best men's and women's college lacrosse players in the country this season.  The annual ceremony, scheduled for May 28 in Washington, D.C., has been canceled as well.

As part of Tuesday's announcement, the Tewaaraton Foundation also released a final watch list for both men's and women's lacrosse for the 2020 season.  UVA had four players -- seniors Dox Aitken Jarred Conners and Michael Kraus, plus junior Matt Moore -- on the final men's watch list, while senior midfielder Sammy Mueller represented the school on the final women's watch list.

Moore was second in the ACC in points (35), tied for third in assists (16) and fourth in goals (19) when the men's lacrosse season ended.  Kraus also ranked in the top 10 in the league in all three statistics, while Aitken was top five on the Cavaliers in both goals and total points.  Conners was top five in the ACC in both ground balls (28) and turnovers caused (10).

Mueller was leading the ACC in ground balls (30) when the women's lacrosse season was stopped.  She was also leading the Cavaliers in points (28), goals (21) and assists (7).
