WICHITA FALLS, Tx. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Bronco Mendenhall and the UVA coaching staff landed their third 2021 commitment in the past week with Texas dual-threat quarterback Jacob Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, a consensus 3-star quarterback out of Wichita Falls, announced his decision Monday morning on Twitter, even committing as a "Thorterback."

 Rodriguez lead Rider to the Texas Class 5A Division II state quarterfinals as junior, while throwing for 3,003 yards and 33 touchdowns. The 13th-ranked dual threat quarterback in the country also rushed for 1,247 yards and 16 touchdowns.

In the past week, Virginia also landed commitments from 4-star linebacker Josh McCarron out of Washington and 3-star cornerback William Simpkins from Maryland. The latest round of commitments pushes the Wahoos into 247 Sports' top-25 2021 recruiting classes, currently ranked No. 24 in the country and fourth in the ACC.
