CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2020 Business Leader of the Year, who will be recognized at the upcoming Rebound Ball.

According to a release, Liza Borches, the CEO of Carter Myers Automotive, will receive the award.

“We are thrilled to recognize Liza as an outstanding businesswoman and community leader,” said Chamber President and CEO Elizabeth Cromwell. “Her leadership in 2020 has been extraordinary, adapting to the business challenges of the pandemic while reaching out to support community members in need.” 

Borches is also the Board Chair of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Virginia, a past Chair of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater Charlottesville, and co-founded Women United.

The release says 13 other people, businesses and nonprofits that were nominated by the business community for their collaboration, innovation and determination during a challenging year will also be honored.

These include Sober Pierre and Javier Figueroa-Ray of Pearl Island Cafe, Quintin Harrel of Heritage United Builders, Wilson Richey of Ten Course Hospitality, Animal Connection, Bright Ideas, Brooks Family YMCA, Chick-Fil-A at Fashion Square, Culinary Concepts AB, the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, King Family Vineyards, Michie Tavern, and the Virginia Institute of Autism.
