ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The U.S. Tennis Association Pro Circuit recognized Ron Manilla and Boar's Head Resort for holding tennis events for 20 years.

The USTA also pointed out its appreciation for the great women's tennis events that have been held over the years, like the Boar's Head Resort Women's Open, one of the longest-running events on the tour.

"Just the fact that we have been doing this for 20 years," said Manilla, the tournament's director. "You know, it seems just like yesterday that the USTA Pro Circuit approached me. I remember that day so clearly."

"It's not easy putting on an event for 20 years," said Idelle Pierre-Louisa, the USTA's senior manager of the pro circuit. "It's just a lot of hard work, and we like to acknowledge it."

Manilla goes on to say that it is great to know that some great players have come through this area.

For example, three of the eight players who advanced to the quarters of the Australian Open came through the Charlottesville program.
