ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Supporting the local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is as easy as drinking cider.

On Thursday night, Castle Hill Cider is celebrating "The Longest Day," a signature fundraising campaign for the Alzheimer's Association. There will be live music, signature cocktails and a corn hole tournament.

Emily Rosenberger, an events manager for the Alzheimer's Association Central and Western Virginia, says the funds from this event will go to support groups, educational programs and free consultations for the thousands of people suffering from Alzheimer's and their caregivers.

“Unfortunately, there are a lot of individuals in Virginia alone, over 150,000 individuals living with Alzheimer's and over 349 caregivers providing unpaid care and they need our support," she said. "They need free resources.”

The event runs until 9 p.m. If you wear purple, you'll get half off your first flight of beer.
