RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- There will be no Charlottesville Heart Walk this fall.

According to a release, the American Heart Association has decided to discontinue the annual event following discussions with volunteer leaders.

However, the AHA says its work will continue in the Charlottesville area.

It will be launching the Leaders of Impact campaign next month as part of World Heart Day.

This competition will be focused on driving equitable health for all, with nominees from across the region working to build campaign plans, recruit teams, and inspire support for the association’s mission.

The annual Charlottesville Heart and Stroke Ball will still take place in the spring.

People who would like to participate in a Heart Walk can learn more about events that take place in Roanoke or Richmond, both of which will be held on Oct. 22.
