FRONT ROYAL, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man from Charlottesville is facing charges for soliciting minors in Warren County.

According to the Front Royal Police Department, an investigation started on Nov. 9 as part of a proactive approach to catching people who solicit underage victims for sexual purposes.

A man began trying to solicit a detective who he believed to be a 15-year-old girl, asking for photographs and sexually explicit materials.

The suspect also sent sexually explicit materials, including child sexual abuse materials or child pornography.

The police department reports that the conversation was not solicited and was started by the suspect.

During the investigation, a meeting place in Front Royal was arranged, and the suspect traveled to the town to meet the person he believed was a juvenile female.

The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Avery Wood of Charlottesville, was arrested on Nov. 22 and taken to the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail.

He is being held without bond and is expected to make an appearance in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Dec. 15.

Wood is accused of two counts of using communication systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children and two counts of possession, reproduction, distribution, solicitation and facilitation of child pornography.
