CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Charlottesville’s MarieBette Cafe and Bakery typically has people walking in and out for its treats and European-inspired dishes.

But February draws in a new crowd for its Hot Chocolate Month, which features a new flavor of the tasty drink every day.

“And it’s just really taken off and it’s kind of incredible how much business we get and how excited people are about it,” said Jason Becton, the owner of MarieBette’s.

This all started back in 2016, when Becton wanted to bring a taste of his hometown to Charlottesville. He was inspired by one of his favorite restaurants to start his own Hot Chocolate Month.

“When we moved here, I really missed their hot chocolate and I wanted to have a really good hot chocolate here, so I think we do. We have what I think is a really great product,” added Becton.

MarieBette’s offers 28 new flavors, ranging from classic peanut butter, to chipotle chili, to roasted banana, and more.

Although some flavors may be daunting, like white chocolate jasmine, Becton encourages people to expand their taste buds and try something new.

"There are other ones that may surprise you, so I'm looking forward to winning people over on things that may not be immediately seen as super popular," added Becton.

He says people cannot go wrong with any flavors but is extra excited for people to try white chocolate rose, which is his personal favorite.
