Family pet dead, no other injuries in Fry's Spring house fire
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A family pet is dead following a large house fire in the Fry's Spring neighborhood on Willard Drive.
Charlottesville Fire Department responded to the fire a little after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The residents of the home were not there when the fire started and are accounted for after the blaze.
It took out part of a home and damaged the windows and fence of the neighboring home.
"The main fire building has extensive fire damage on the first floor. The 2526 building has mild damage but the power and gas has been secured in both locations," Battalion Chief Jonathon Williams said.
As of 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, the fire department was still investigating the cause of the fire.
Power was cut on Willard Drive as a precaution and Dominion Energy worked to bring it back.
