RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia Restaurant, Lodging and Travel Association has announced the winners of this year’s Ordinary Awards, and some local names made the list.

These awards recognize restaurants, lodging establishments and hotels, attractions and more across Virginia.

They are named for Chinn’s Ordinary, which the Baltimore Sun says is considered the oldest original inn in America.

The inn was built in 1728 between Alexandria and Winchester. It has been called the Red Fox Inn and Tavern since 1937.

Boar’s Head Resort was named the Hospitality Hero - Business for 2023, while Small Country Campground in Louisa was picked as the Campground of the Year.

Loving Cup Vineyard and Winery in North Garden was named the Winery of the Year.

And the Charlie Buser Award for Attraction Employee of the Year was given to Gayle Jessup White at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.

Other awards were presented during the 2023 Ordinary Awards Dinner recognizing the Virginia International Raceway as the Attraction of the Year, state Senator Siobhan Dunnavant as the Legislator of the Year, Axe Handle Distilling in Pennington Gap as the Distillery of the Year, the Wine Kitchen in Leesburg as the Restaurant of the Year, and many other.
