ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A total solar eclipse will be crossing 13 states next month, and Orange County is hosting a chance for people to learn more about the event.

The Orange County Department of Parks and Recreation says Larry Saunders and Teddy Oakey, two training NASA Partner Solar Eclipse Ambassadors, will discuss the event on March 23.

They will be at the Orange County Public Library between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The presentation will include information on what a solar eclipse is, how often one occurs, a historical perspective on eclipses and other facts about the astronomical event.

The first 50 people to attend will also get two pairs of paper solar eclipse glasses, provided by a grant from StarNet. These will assist people who get to view the event.

Saunders has provided astronomy presentations at the McCormick Observatory at the University of Virginia for 25 years. Oakey is a second-year UVA astronomy major.

This event is being put on by the Charlottesville Astronomy Club.
