AARP Virginia, the NAACP and local politicians met at Trinity Episcopal Church on Thursday to discuss what these bills could mean for people who need prescription medication. The speakers were joined by the "Make Medicine Affordable" bus, a mobile billboard calling for the governor to pass this legislation.
“The cost of prescription drugs is out of sight. It's higher in Virginia than it is in other states and there is no reason for that,” state Senator Creigh Deeds (D) said.
Deeds worked closely with Republican Senator Bill Stanley to push for this legislation back during the 2024 legislative session.
Youngkin has until April 8 to make a decision on the two bills.
