CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The Cavaliers earned its fifth ACC series win on Sunday courtesy of Abby Weaver whose sac fly in the seventh inning brought home the game-winning run.

"You always want to win on senior day," Virginia softball coach Joanna Hardin said after the win. "You want your seniors to go out the right way. I think we had a walk-off on senior day two years ago I think so a flare for the dramatic a little bit, but you want your seniors to go out on top."

Sophomore Jade Hylton set up the heroics in the fifth inning after hitting a solo home run to cut the Cavaliers deficit to 2-1. Weaver eventually tied the game a few batters later with a sac fly that brought home Kailyn Jones.

"We tried to keep it simply and stay calm and just be us and finding ways to chip away like I said earlier and so base runners are really the main thing in those situations and luckily we were able to come through," Hylton said.

The Cavaliers found themselves in a similar situation yesterday after falling 4-0 early on. Hylton sparked that rally with a home run, but it ultimately wasn't enough.

"Yesterday was obviously hard," Hylton said. "Lots of ups and downs in that game, but just the fight that we showed was honestly good and I think it carried over into today when we got down 2-0. We knew we were capable of coming back."

It wouldn't be a senior day without mentioning the seniors and they came through in the seventh, beginning with Leah Boggs who successfully laid down a bunt to advance from first to third and the Weaver finished the job with a sac fly.

"It was awesome," Weaver said. "It was really nice because the team came together at that time and grinded it out together and I think that at bat doesn't happen and make it as easy as it is without it being just one out and a runner on third."

Virginia closes out their home slate on Tuesday when they take on Virginia Tech at 6 p.m.
