CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Monticello Wine Week kicks off on Friday.

The festival used to be a one-day event, but now they’re giving attendees more opportunities and ways to experience the wine.

There’s even a golf tournament at Keswick Hall where each team is led by a local winemaker.

Veritas CEO George Hodson said collaborations like these are one reason they won a major award this year.

“Winning Wine Enthusiast's Wine Region of the Year Award is kind of a time where we really want to capture that attention while people are looking and make sure we show what an awesome product we make," he said.

The first event is Friday night at The Wool Factory and the final event is next Wednesday at Eastwood Farm and Winery.
