CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Kids who love big trucks have an opportunity to learn about them hands-on next weekend.

Montessori School of Charlottesville is hosting their 6th Truck Touch Day.

It allows kids to interact with fire trucks, dump trucks, cement mixers and more.

There will also be face painting, food trucks and live music.

Proceeds go to the Montessori School’s scholarship program.

School administrator Soren Jones said the event is in line with their teaching missions.

“Three- to six-year-olds just absolutely love, they're just mesmerized by giant vehicles. And, just having the ability to climb inside, sit behind the driver’s wheel, honk the horn, do the sirens, all those things -- it's really fun for them," he said.

The beginning of event will be siren-free for children with any sensory issues.

It’s on May 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fairview Swim and Tennis Club.
