CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- Virginia evened the series against Boston College in bizarre comeback fashion 4-3. Bobby Whalen had the game tying hit while Aidan Teel came up with a diving catch to get Virginia out of a bases loaded tied game situation. Griff O'Ferrall plated what would be the game winner off a fielder choice to even the series.

Owen Coady made the start for Virginia but ran into trouble early, loading the bases in the bottom of the first. With the bases juiced and no outs in sight Nick Wang doubled down the left field line to give BC a 2-0 advantage early. Virginia responded in the next frame with a 2 RBI triple off the bat of Eric Becker to even the score 2-2. Coady gave up another run in the third frame with a 2 out RBI single from Vince Cimini.

The Eagles maintained the lead for the next three innings but Bobby Whalen evened it up again in the top of the sixth with a 2 out ground out single to score Casey Saucke.

With the game once again tied in the bottom of the 8th Jay Woolfolk loaded the bases, prompting a pitching change from skipper Brian O'Connor. Woolfolk wasn't the only adjustment Brian O'Connor made though, O'Connor pulled Harrison Didawick from left field and replaced him with Aidan Teel. The odd call proved to be good one as Chase Hungate induced a fly out to shallow left field where Teel made an incredible diving catch to get Virginia out of the jam.

Griff O'Ferrall sent home the game winning run off a fielders choice to score Bobby Whalen. In turn Hungate threw a 1-2-3 inning to clinch the win 4-3.

Virginia and Boston College face each other Saturday at 1pm to decide the series.
