CHARLOTTE, Nc. (CBS10 SPORTS)-- Virginia falls in the ACC semifinals to Syracuse in crushing fashion 19-4.

Syracuse jumped out first scoring three quick goals in the opening two minutes of play. The momentum grew in the Orange’s favor as Syracuse built an 8-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Morgan Schwab finally got Virginia on the board in the second quarter but was answered by five consecutive Syracuse goals. The Cavaliers made a change at goalkeeper turning to Abby Jansen with 7:27 remaining in the second quarter. Jansen made a pair of saves at the end of the first half as Virginia went into the break trailing by a score of 13-1.

Josephson would re-enter the game to start the second half. The Cavaliers were outscored by a margin of 3-2 in the third quarter with goals coming from Hoeg and Bostain, each assisted by Schwab. Virginia ended the third quarter trailing by a score of 16-3.
