ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Lots of people turned out for the annual spring Foxfield Races in Albemarle County.

The popular semi-annual event celebrates steeplechase racing, which is steeped in history in this region.

This was the 45th year for the spring races.

The Foxfield Races are also fundraisers for Camp Holiday Trails, a local year-round nonprofit that offers children and teens with medical conditions a chance to experience camp.

This year’s spring races raised $50,000 to support CHT and the children it helps. About 12,500 people attended the spring races.

The fall races are scheduled for Oct. 6.
