Potential Tropical Cyclone 16 (soon to be Ophelia) is developing off the Southeast coast of the country and is expected to bring widespread rain to Central Virginia this weekend. Rain will begin late Friday evening and continue throughout the day on Saturday. 1-3 inches of rain are expected with some locally higher amounts possible. Winds will get breezy Friday evening and remain breezy all weekend. Temperatures are in the 60s and 70s for the next 7 days.

Friday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the middle 70s.

Saturday: Rain. Some heavy at times. Highs in the middle 60s. Breezy with wind gusts of 30-40 mph possible.

Sunday: A few morning showers, then partly cloudy. Highs in the lower 70s.

Monday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the middle 70s.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with the chance of scattered afternoon showers. Highs in the lower 70s.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy with the chance of scattered afternoon showers. Highs in the lower 70s.

Thursday: Scattered showers into the afternoon with highs approaching 70.
