David joined the CBS19 Weather Authority team in January 2015 as the weekday evening Meteorologist
David Reese has been a member of the CBS19 Weather Authority team since January of 2015. Since his arrival, he has covered multiple snow storms, a few tornadoes, the floods of 2018 and quite a few thunderstorms. The weather here is a unique challenge; one he enjoys embracing on a daily basis. He enjoys the vibrancy of Charlottesville and all it has to offer so much that he and his wife have put down roots here. They enjoy grabbing some peach ice cream at Carter Mountain, going to a vineyard to taste some of the incredible wines produced in our backyard, and heading to any one of the several restaurants around town.
David grew up along the Suncoast of Florida where he got to experience daily thunderstorms in the summer and the occasional hurricane. The event that cemented his love for weather was Hurricane Charley in 2004. The incredible power and last-minute change in track captured his mind and filled it with a fascination for weather.
To further enhance his fascination and knowledge for weather, David went to Florida State University (Go Noles!) where he earned his degree in meteorology. David comes our way from Columbus, GA where he worked as the Weekday Morning and Weekend Meteorologist. He experienced it all while working there from tropical storms to severe thunderstorms to tornadoes to flash flooding and even ice and snow storms.
When not working the 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts, you can catch him running, working out, hanging out with his 7 nieces (yes, 7) and one nephew, or checking out a local restaurant with his wife. He also enjoys the “Tonight Dough” ice cream from Ben & Jerrys, fried chicken, any and all Reese’s candy, and video games.
David is excited to call Central Virginia his home and looks forward to meeting a lot of you while he’s out and about.
