Brianna joined CBS19 in January 2018 as a reporter.
Brianna Hamblin is a multimedia journalist at CBS19 News in Charlottesville. She is a Virginia native, raised in Stafford. She began reporting part-time at CBS19 as she finished up school at the University of Virginia where she studied Media Studies and English. She graduated in May 2018 and continued her work full time.
As a student at UVA, Brianna fed her passion for telling stories by writing for the Cavalier Daily, creating a black publication on grounds titled Orphée Noir, publishing videos for WUVA, and being an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists. In 2018 Brianna helped found the first NABJ chapter at UVA as the chapter president. She is still a member of NABJ as a professional. Upon graduation she was awarded the Bernard Mayes Award, “for exemplifying the ideals of the Department of Media Studies Class of 2018.”
The summer of 2016, Brianna studied abroad in Valencia, Spain where she took Spanish classes and traveled around Europe. Brianna jumps on any opportunity she can get to travel. Along with Spain, she has also visited France, Ireland, England, New Zealand, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Canada, Denmark, Wales, and Italy.
Brianna loves to dance just as much as she loves telling stories. She teaches Dance Fusion, a dance fitness class, at the Charlottesville ACAC. She also loves dancing salsa and bachata and was on the varsity dance team in high school.
She is also a loving dog mama of, Cooper. She rescued him from the Charlottesville SPCA as a puppy in 2017. Brianna and Cooper love going to dog parks, cuddling on the couch with a good book or Netflix series, and discovering new places together.
