In Victoria, which is about 70 miles southeast of Virginia, a woman in her 60s was killed after a tree toppled onto her home.

Police said Lena Gaulding was in her bed in Lunenburg County when the tree fell.

There were numerous power outages in the area and first responders were in the community when they noticed a tree on Gaulding’s home around 1 a.m.

Police proceeded to do a welfare check on the home and found Gaulding pinned under the tree. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

“I just couldn’t believe. I’ve been here so many times, and I didn’t think that tree was that big," said her friend and former co-worker Annie Mitchell.

Her family and friends said the situation doesn’t feel real and they are devastated. Gaulding was well-known in the community. They say she was loved, gave a lot of love and adored her young grandson.

“My prayers go out to them. I’m sorry for their loss," said Mitchell. “She was a sweet person.”

A third woman was killed in Henrico County. Police say she died after a tree fell and hit her car. She was not identified.
