Louisa County Sheriff to retire in 2019

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS 19 NEWS) -- A big change is coming to the Louisa County Sheriff's Office.

Longtime Sheriff Ashland Fortune will retire at the at the end of this year.

His longtime second-in-command, Major Donald Lowe, announced he will run for the sheriff's position in November.

Fortune has been Louisa's Sheriff for 20 years.

Fortune and Lowe have worked together since 1999.
