Entrepreneurs graduate from small business workshop

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Community Investment Collaborative, or CIC, held its 11th graduation ceremony Thursday night.

Thirty-one entrepreneurs completed CIC's 16-week workshop and were recognized for their achievements. Close to 200 people were at the ceremony to recognize the graduates.

The program focuses on educating adults about starting or improving their own businesses.

Students learn about marketing, sales human resources, finances and many other important skills that go into running their own businesses.

Some of the graduates have started companies such as clothing shops, jewelry shops, hair salons and more.

"My time with CIC was awesome," said Tiffany Davie. "There were a lot of great people in my class, a lot of resources, and a lot of encouragement in my class."

She graduated from the program Thursday and runs her own catering company called Miss Tiff's Catering, LLC.

"I feel that it has come full circle, but I'm the type of person that wants to keep pushing to see what I can improve on," said Davie.
