Albemarle County Board of Supervisors approve FY 2020 budget

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors approved the proposed budget for FY 2020 on Tuesday with an operating and spending plan of close to $457 million.

There is a slight increase in the real estate tax, which is currently 85.4 cents per $100 of assessed value. That is an increase of a cent and a half.

A big change in revenue is from an increase in property values.

Also included in the budget is capital improvements, which will go toward an additional police officer, two positions in the department of social services, and funding for the Crozet Connect transit bus.

There will be a meeting that is open to the public Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Lane Auditorium. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak then and again at 6 p.m.
