ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An Albemarle County man is facing multiple drug and firearms charges.
According to a release from the Virginia State Police, 28-year-old Courtney Teyon Howard was arrested earlier this week.
An investigation began on March 30 following a vehicle pursuit involving the Albemarle County Police Department.
Police say Howard crashed his vehicle and ran away from the scene, but officers found a handgun, a sub-machine gun and marijuana in his car.
Following that chase, arrest warrants were obtained on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, eluding law enforcement, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession or receiving a stolen firearm, and obliterating the serial number on a firearm.
Working with the U.S. Marshals Service, detectives from the Jefferson Area Drug Enforcement Task Force and ACPD arrested Howard on Monday at an apartment on the 300 block of Timberland Lane.
When officials searched the apartment, they seized a small amount of marijuana, a revolver, a 9-mm semi-automatic handgun, several types of ammunition, and a backpack that contained masks, two-way radios and burglary tools.
The investigation is ongoing, and police say additional charges are pending.
Howard is being held at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.
