ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Albemarle County plans to donate some of its extra vehicles to help people starting new jobs.

The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors has approved the donation of up to 15 surplus vehicles over the next five years to Piedmont Virginia Community College's Network2Work Program.

This program helps match potential employees with new jobs and training.

Frank Squillace, who works with Network2Work, said these cars can make a huge difference.

"We can't thank the county enough," Squillace said. "This is all one economy. If people are working and can get to a job that helps employers and that helps the tax base and that helps our region as a whole."

PVCC is also hoping to get surplus cars donated from the University of Virginia and the city of Charlottesville.
