Albemarle teen arrested for multiple sexual assaults

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Albemarle County Police Department has arrested a teenager suspected in multiple sexual assault incidents.

On Tuesday, detectives arrested 18-year-old Alex Franklin Hovey of Faber in connection with three recent sexual assault incidents that occurred in Albemarle County.

Hovey is accused of assaulting one woman near the Pantops Shopping Center this past February.

He is also accused of assaulting two women in April, one near Albemarle Square and the other in Covesville.

Hovey is charged with two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery and one felony count of aggravated sexual battery.

He is currently being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.

A hearing for Hovey was scheduled for Wednesday morning, but that has now been pushed to May 9.
