CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- New City Arts and the Haven hosted the ninth annual art auction downtown Saturday night for a cause.
The event included a live auction at Common House and a silent auction at Old Metropolitan Hall.
Proceeds benefit Housing2Home to help people who were homeless transition into stable housing.
Lindsey Leahy, program manager at New City Arts and the creative coordinator for Housing2Home, said their clients are also encouraged to get art for their new homes.
"We do have a component where clients are encouraged to express their creativity," said Leahy. "So a part of their budget is set aside for a creative element like art buying, and they can commission local artists to make work for their new homes."
The artwork was from more than 50 local, regional, and national artists.
