BGF partnering with local nonprofits for renovation projects

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Building Goodness Foundation is partnering with four nonprofits this spring and summer.

It is planning four renovation projects in Charlottesville with Pilgrim Baptist, All Blessings Flow, Market Box, and Abundant Life.

The project with Pilgrim Baptist will allow the church to expand its existing programs, create new programs, and provide easier access to community members with limited mobility.

It will include renovation work in the kitchen, a bathroom and a stage/ramp.

Building Goodness says the first build days at Pilgrim Baptist will take place this Saturday and again on March 10.

The project at Abundant Life will renovate the porch space and replace the windows on the first floor allowing the organization to bring its activities back into its building and making the meeting space safer and more comfortable. This project will begin on April 7.

BGF is slated to help All Blessings Flow with its existing storage and office space and stations for handling medical equipment, increasing collection and distribution capacity and reducing storage until overhead. Work on this project will likely begin in June.

Market Box is a pilot program that aims to address food access in underserved areas.

BGF is designing and building a prototype for a semi-mobile, mini-market that will sell fresh food in places where it's not currently available.

The organization will outfit a shipping container with shelving, tables, counters, and an ADA-compliant porch entryway, with construction likely to begin in August.
