ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Work to replace the deck of an Albemarle County bridge will block a dead-end road for about one night later this month.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says Hammocks Gap Road will close where the road crosses Redbud Creek on June 24.

The road is expected to close at 9 p.m. that night and reopen at 6 a.m. on June 25, weather permitting.

During the work, the bridge and road will be closed to all traffic and a shuttle will be provided for residents who need to leave the community.

VDOT says finishing work on the bridge will continue through June 28 and the 17-ton weight limit will be removed, meaning all legal weight limits will be able to use it.

The original bridge was built in 1963.
