CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- More than two weeks after Brown's Cleaners announced it would be closing, a steady stream of customers arrived at Brown's Cleaners High Street location on Monday morning and at the Preston Avenue location in the afternoon.
The business closed all four locations suddenly before Christmas, leaving employees uncertain about their paychecks and customers unsure how they would get their belongings back.
Pick-up for three of Brown's locations will be available on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. this week and next week.
The Preston Avenue location will open for pick-ups from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. those same days.
As she left the High Street location Monday with several clean shirts, longtime customer Susan Brannen said she'll miss her regular trips to Brown's.
"They knew you by name when you walked in," said Brannan. "It was just really a nice atmosphere, and people were always so friendly, so I feel really bad for the employees."
Brown's owner Cary Jackson bought the business four years ago. He said employees have now been paid and he has declared personal bankruptcy.
