CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The biggest job fair in Charlottesville is happening Thursday.

The annual Charlottesville Community Job Fair is taking place at John Paul Jones Arena.

There are 128 companies, from a variety of industries like education, health care and food service, set up to speak with potential new employees.

More than 1,000 open positions are available for job seekers.

Hollie Lee, Chief of Workforce Development Strategies with the City of Charlottesville, said it will be a good chance for people who may be looking for a better job than the one they currently have.

"This could be a chance for them to get one job that pays a self-sufficient wage and maybe has benefits so they can support themselves and their families without having to work multiple jobs and just get burn out," Lee said.

About 800 job seekers are expected to come to the job fair.

The job fair is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking is free.
