Charlottesville launches Ale Trail to guide visitors to breweries

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Charlottesville is launching a new trail to help attract more people to the city's expanding list of breweries.

The Ale Trail will officially launch on Sept. 8.

It includes the six breweries that are currently located in Charlottesville: Hardywood Pilot Brewery & Taproom, Random Row Brewing Co., Brasserie Saison, South Street Brewery, Three Notch'd Craft Kitchen & Brewery, and Champion Brewing Company.

The organizers of the trail are hoping it will promote tourism to Charlottesville. The co-founder of Random Row, Bradley Kipp, said it helps all of the breweries when they can collaborate, instead of competing against each other.

"We can work together, share ideas, share recipes," Kipp said. "It just creates a dialogue and creates friendship. Everyone loves beer!"

Customers can collect stamps at each brewery and win a prize if they visit all six.
