CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- From fun activities, to trail adventures and even some free food!
The Ballfield in Charlottesville was filled with people celebrating the opening of the Pollocks Branch Greenway Trail.
The James River Aassociation and Skeo Solutions along with the city of Charlottesville is trying to improve water quality and walkability in the neighborhood on South First Street. People from the Walkable Watershed have been in touch with residents who live nearby to learn a little bit about what's in their own back yard.
"The whole basis for this is community-based design, so really designing projects that residents feel like are important and this is a little bit unique because we are trying to improve residents connections to the outside," said Alisa Hefner of Skeo Solutions.
Since the start of the project, a new crosswalk was added on South First Street as well as storm drain murals in the neighborhood.
