Cooling center opened in Greene County

GREENE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Due to high temperatures and the anticipated heat index. Greene County officials are opening a cooling center in Stanardsville.

The county Office of Emergency Services opened the cooling center at the County Administration Building on Celt Road on Thursday.

Officials say it will remain open until further notice.

The cooling center's hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Bottled water will be available, but no food. And only service animals will be allowed, no pets.
