ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Albemarle County residents have a new tool where they can examine property assessment information and more.

The county announced the launch of its new GIS Web, which is a public mapping tool.

County officials say the interface has the same functionality as the old system but it has several new features and improvements.

These improvements include centralized searching that is linked directly to the map on the same screen, single screen viewing of parcel details and improvement information, enhanced cartography, and being mobile friendly.

The tool shows property assessment, land cover, zoning classifications, school districts, voting precincts and more public information associated with each property in the county.

The county says the old system will still be accessible through May 31 so that users have time to become familiar with the new interface.
