Couple's home receives a fresh makeover

KESWICK, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Eugene and Cleo Carr's home in Keswick received a facelift thanks to a partnership between two local companies.

Tiger Fuel kicked off its new Fuel It Forward partnership with the Albemarle Housing Improvement Program by painting the Carr's home on Wednesday.

Their daughter, Dorothy Grimes said she she's happy to see her childhood home get a makeover.

"We are so grateful and they have done a wonderful, wonderful job," she said.

Grimes said Tiger Fuel and AHIP did a lot more to the house than just painting it.

"They have also put a shower in to make it more accessible for my mom and dad, the drawers in the kitchen, also they changed the electrical box in the kitchen, and I think they did flooring going through the hallway going into the bathroom," said Grimes.

She said her parents have had health concerns over the years, which made it difficult to work on the house themselves.

"Sometime ago, my mom had a stroke and my dad has had cancer twice. So they have been very helpful to my mom and I," said Grimes.

Taylor Sutton, the COO of Tiger Fuel, said the initiative to help others is just a part of the company's cycle of success.

"Employees will take care of customers or a community member, the community member or customer will take care of the company and then the company can take care of the employees," said Sutton. "So be a good role model in your community and take care of people that may need it because they have taken care of us."

Grimes said her and her family are so grateful for the act of kindness they received from Tiger Fuel and AHIP.

"It means a lot to me for people to take the time to do this for us," she said. "Most people on their day off, they're just sitting around watching television, but they're extending a helping hand to those that need it and we're grateful, so thank you."
