Day three of Tom Tom kicks off with Youth Summit

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Tom Tom Founders Festival kicked off Wednesday with the first of its summit, the Youth Summit.

High school students, educators and civic leaders attended the morning event, which saw two teams win spots at the University of Virginia iLab incubator program: Project Mind Trigger from St. Anne's Belfield and Art for the Heart from Tandem Friends School and Monticello High School.

Following the Youth Summit, Tom Tom returned to the IX Art park for its Makerville Project Expo, where students showcased various projects that were presented during the summit.

This is the first year for the Makerville which also featured musical performances, art creation activities, trade-skilled showcases and services, and more.

On Wednesday evening, Tom Tom will continue with its Presidency at a Crossroads presentation that will explore the history and future of the American presidency with political leaders, journalists and scholars.

Then comedian John Cleese will take the stage for An Evening with John Cleese, a never-before-performed show.

Every day during the festival, there are workshops taking place at various locations.

For Wednesday, the workshops are Design Your Mind, Gutenberg: The Future of WordPress, Listening Like You Mean It, Exploring the Art of Partner Dancing, and Developing Microenterprise to Employ Adults with Autism.
