UPDATED: Another store helps Toy Lift with some bikes

By  |

On Wednesday, it was learned that the Toy Lift had ordered bikes from a Walmart, but the organization got a delivery of the wrong type of bike, leaving it hundreds short of the number it needed. Another Walmart has now stepped in.

As of Wednesday evening, Toy Lift says it has 460 of the 600 bikes it needed to fulfill the wishes of area children.

However, it still needs help collecting another 140 bikes before Friday.

A delivery mishap has left the organizers of the Toy Lift scrambling.

On Tuesday, they believed they had 480 bikes to give to the 600 children who had asked for one.

Instead, Toy Lift only has 160, which means organizers are in desperate need of hundreds of bikes.

Organizers say they were supposed to fill the remaining gap with a delivery from Walmart, but the wrong type of bike was provided.

So they are now asking for help from the community to get all the bikes needed before the big Toy Lift event on Friday.

Blue Ridge Cyclery is offering discounted prices for people who are buying a bike for the Toy Lift.
