GREENE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A woman from Greene County says she wants to be the county's next Clerk of the Court.

Piper Doeppe is seeking the Republican nomination for a special election that will take place on Nov. 5 to fill the remainder of the term of former clerk Brenda Compton, who is retiring.

According to a release, she says she plans on putting her legal training and experience to work so that the clerk's office complies with its duties and also helps citizens understand the resources that are available to them to help them navigate the court system.

"It doesn't have to be hard to find your home's deed, apply for a marriage license, or even file a civil suit," said Doeppe. "Every step of the way, I'll be there to assist."

Doepee moved to Greene County as a child and says her goal is to give back to the country and the people who live there.
