CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle County Emergency Communications Center says an interim director has been appointed following the Monday resignation of Director Barry Neulen.

Tom Berry will fill the role following an announcement Monday afternoon from the ECC's Management Board.

"I look forward to serving our regional emergency communications center and to continue delivering professional and quality services to our community during this time of transition," said Berry.

Members of the board thanks Neulen for his service and then announced the people who will be sitting on a committee to find his permanent replacement.

That committee will include ECC Management Board Chair Doug Walker, Albemarle County Chief of Police Ron Lantz, Charlottesville Fire Chief Andrew Baxter, and UVA Associated Vice President for Safety and Security Gloria Graham.

Berry will also continue to be UVA's Executive Director of Emergency Management. He has also served as the UVA Health System's Emergency Management Director in the past.

A release provided no information regarding the reason behind Neulen's resignation.
