Emmet Street closure extended

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A temporary street closure in Charlottesville has been extended for another week.

The city says part of Emmet Street will remain closed for an additional week as part of an ongoing waterline project along Ivy Road, Emmet Street and Sprigg Lane.

The current detour will remain in place.

The city says Emmet Street between McCormick Bridge and Sprigg Lane is now scheduled to reopen on Jan. 14.

The portion of the road between Sprigg Lane and Ivy Road will remain closed until Jan. 18.

Drivers will be able to access the Emmet Street garage from Emmet Street beginning on Jan. 14.

However, with the possibility of snow this weekend, the city says the reopening of Emmet Street may be delayed.

Anyone with questions regarding this project should contact the project manager, Roy Nester, at (434) 970-3908 or nesterr@charlottesville.org.
