CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- For a second year, the Virginia Festival of the Book is partnering with the CFA Institute to support some of the festival's programming focusing on diversity and inclusion.
This is the 25th year for the festival that brings writers and readers together to promote books, reading, literacy and literary culture.
“As Charlottesville's fifth largest private employer, CFA Institute is committed to this community and has been here for more than 50 years,” said Kelli E. Palmer, the director of corporate citizenship at CFA Institute. “We know that events like the Festival of the Book help promote the values we stand for: diversity, inclusion, equity and community-building. Our work to promote the highest standards of ethics, education and professional excellence in the investment profession globally is mirrored by the Festival fo the Book's efforts to educate, inform, and engage community members around topics of global relevance.”
As part of the upcoming festival in March, the CFA Institute is sponsoring several free programs, including Understanding Love: LGBTQI Fiction, Native Lives: Past and Present, Women and War: Untold Stories, Complicated Lives in the Civil Rights Era, Resilient Lives in Fiction, Latinx Fiction for Young Readers, Segregation to Civil Rights: America's Journey, and Exploring Jewish Identity: Personal and Historical.
The festival will be holding events in Charlottesville and Albemarle County March 20 through 24.
