ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Personal property and real estate taxes are due soon, so people are being encouraged to pay now and avoid late fees.
The first half of the this year's taxes will be due June 5. Payments that are postmarked with that date will be considered on time.
People who have questions or who have not received their personal property or real estate tax bill should reach out to their local finance or taxation department for assistance.
People who have a vehicle, trailer, boat or even an airplane that is not listed on their bill will also need to contact their local department to correct their information.
A late payment penalty of ten percent or $10, whichever is greater, per item, will go into effect on June 6 and then an interest rate of ten percent per annum will begin to accrue in July if the bill remains unpaid.
For Albemarle County residents, payments may be submitted by mail, by calling (866) 820-5450, at the 24/7 Automated Payment Kiosk at the County Office Building on McIntire Road, in person at the county Finance Department, or online at the link in the Related Links box.
