Fogel speaks out about being left off the Civilian Review Board

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Civil rights attorney Jeff Fogel spoke about why he feels that he was left off the Civilian Review Board.

Fogel received the most votes to be on the board back in June, but the Charlottesville City Council did not appoint Fogel to the board.

Despite not being appointed, the CRB has been looking to add Fogel to the board as its ninth member but the ninth member must be appointed by the city council.

A couple of weeks ago at one of the CRB meetings, Councilor Heather Hill and Fogel exchanged words after Hill said that she does not believe Fogel can be an objective member.

Fogel believes that the decision to leave him off the board was a personal one made by three of the councilors.

"I think they don't like me talking to them in a way that maybe angry, that may call out the truth that they don't want revealed, and this is their way of getting back at me," said Fogel.

Even though he is not on the board, he believes that it will not affect how the board operates and he is confident that it will do a good job.
