FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The 22nd annual Fluvanna Girls Softball golf tournament raised money for the Fluvanna Girls Softball League on Sunday at the Lake Monticello Golf Course.
The softball league has more than 100 girls every season ranging from five years old to 18 years old.
The tournament included raffle prizes and dinner afterward.
The money will be going toward updating the Carysbrook softball complex.
Chris Fairchild, the president of the league, said the golf tournament is a fun way for money to be raised for the girls.
"I call it a legacy fundraising program,” said Fairchild. “Meaning we've got people who've been doing this every year since we started, 22 years. And between our players and our sponsors, we have people who just believe in us and keep showing up."
The tournament is typically the first weekend of May every year.
