Help treat a Charlottesville officer to dinner

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- The Charlottesville Police Foundation is asking for help from the community to treat a cop to dinner.

On Nov. 19, more than 200 officers and their guests will attend an awards dinner during which the officers will be thanked for their work.

There will be a promotion ceremony, and Chief Al Thomas will present his first awards to highlight the actions of officers who have responded to various challenges in creative, courageous and compassionate ways.

There are three financial ways the community can help.

With a $50 donation, one officer's dinner will be provided. A $500 donation will sponsor an entire table, and $1,000 will help underwrite the entire event.

Every donation will be recognized at the dinner.

The Charlottesville Police Foundation can be found online, at the link in the Related Links box, or by mail at PO Box 2631, Charlottesville, Va. 22902.
